“And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.”
Mark 10:16, KJV
Be Still
Let your heart linger here for a moment. Before we consider what we must accomplish today, behold the tenderness of Yeshua. A child is in His arms. His hand rests in blessing. There is room to draw near.
Behold Him
In Mark 10:13–16, people brought young children to Jesus so that He might touch them. The disciples rebuked those bringing them, but Jesus was displeased. He told them not to hinder the children and taught that the kingdom of God must be received as a little child.
Then He did something wonderfully personal. He took the children into His arms, laid His hands upon them, and blessed them. He did not merely permit them to remain at the edge of the gathering. He welcomed them close.
What Does This Reveal About God’s Heart?
The children had no position to offer Him and no impressive achievement to announce. Yet they mattered to Him. Where others saw an interruption, Yeshua made room for an encounter with His love.
His tenderness was not a pause in His ministry; it was a revelation of His heart. The One who taught with authority also held little ones with care. We need not make Him less holy to behold Him as gentle.
Perhaps today we can stop trying to appear more important, more capable, or less needy before Him. Receiving His kingdom as a child is not pretending that life is simple. It is coming without a claim to greatness, trusting the goodness of the One who welcomes us.
The Holy Place
Bring the children you love before the Lord by name. Thank Him that they are not overlooked. Ask Him to help you offer them patient attention, a safe welcome, and words that bless. Then let His kindness shape the way you receive anyone whose voice is easily passed over.
We worship Him not only by admiring His welcome, but also by making room for the people He values.
A Worshipful Prayer
Abba Father, thank You for showing us Your tender heart through Yeshua. We adore the Savior who welcomed the children, held them close, and blessed them. Teach us to receive Your kingdom with humble trust.
We place our children and grandchildren before You today. Surround them with faithful care. Give the adults in their lives wisdom, patience, and courage to protect them. Let each child know that they are precious, heard, and loved.
Forgive us for the times our hurry has made us impatient with someone You treasure. Make our homes and our words places of welcome. Help us to draw near without performing and to extend kindness without keeping score. May our lives reflect the gentleness of Your hands. In Yeshua’s beautiful name, amen.
A Stone of Remembrance
Yeshua did not overlook the little ones. He took them into His arms and blessed them.
