“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast”
Hebrews 6:19, KJV · excerpt
Be Still
An anchor does its work beyond the surface. We may watch the movement of the water while the thing holding us remains out of sight. Let that quiet picture turn our attention toward the hope God has given us.
Today, we can bring Him the part of our heart that feels unsettled. We can pause long enough to remember where our hope is held.
Behold Him
Hebrews remembers God’s promise to Abraham and the oath by which He confirmed it. The passage says that God wanted the heirs of promise to know the unchanging nature of His purpose. His truthfulness gives strong encouragement to those who have fled to Him for refuge. Read Hebrews 6:13–20.
Then comes this beautiful image: hope as an anchor for the soul. The picture reaches beyond a ship and the sea. Our hope enters within the veil, into God’s presence, where Jesus has already entered for us as our forerunner and eternal High Priest.
What Does This Reveal About God’s Heart?
The Lord cares about the assurance of His people. He gives His word and confirms His promise. There is tenderness in that desire to encourage us: He knows the strength we need to continue, and He gives us a firm reason to trust Him.
We may wake with a steady heart one morning and feel the pull of uncertainty the next. His character remains faithful through both. We can return to what He has made known, allowing His truth to settle more deeply than the changing movement of our feelings.
And our hope has a name. Yeshua has gone before us. The One who loved us enough to give Himself for us is already in the Father’s presence. As we behold Him, hope becomes personal—a confidence resting in our living Savior.
The Holy Place
Stay with the words for us. Our forerunner has entered for us. Let gratitude gather around that truth before you reach for the demands of the day.
There may be things we cannot yet resolve. We can still worship. We can still take the next faithful step, speak kindly, fulfill a responsibility, and offer a simple prayer. The hope set before us gives us courage to keep walking with Him.
Worshipful Prayer
Abba Father, we adore You for the faithfulness of Your heart. Your word is trustworthy. Your purpose is steadfast. Thank You for caring enough to strengthen and encourage those who seek refuge in You.
Yeshua, our precious Savior, thank You for going before us. We worship You as our living High Priest. Draw our attention toward Your finished work and Your abiding presence with the Father. Let the wonder of what You have done become fresh within us today.
When our thoughts feel tossed about, help us return to Your truth. Give us patience for the hours that ask us to wait and courage for the work that is ours to do. Let hope deepen into quiet faithfulness.
Teach us to carry that encouragement gently to others. May someone who feels weary find kindness in our words and companionship in our presence. Keep our hearts near You as we move through this day.
We rest our hope in You, Lord. In Yeshua’s faithful and holy name, Amen.
My Stone of Remembrance: My hope is held in the presence of God, where Yeshua has gone before me.
