“Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares…”
— Matthew 13:30 KJV
There are seasons in God where the greatest question is not “What am I experiencing?” but “What am I becoming?”
Because two things can grow in the same field and yet carry completely different destinies.
🌾 Wheat and tares can share the same soil.
🌾 They can receive the same rain.
🌾 They can experience the same sunlight.
🌾 They can exist in the same environment.
Yet when harvest comes, heaven knows the difference.
This is the mystery of the divine division.
There is a dimension of God’s dealings where He begins to separate what looks similar, distinguish what has been confused, and expose what has been hidden.
And sometimes, the greatest spiritual crisis is not that a person is surrounded by evil.
It is that good and counterfeit have become so close that discernment is required to tell them apart.
🌱 1. THE FIELD IS NOT THE PROOF OF YOUR IDENTITY
Jesus said:
“The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one.”
— Matthew 13:38
Notice something profound:
The wheat and the tares are found in the same field.
This means environment alone does not determine identity.
You can sit in a church and still need transformation.
You can listen to powerful messages and remain unchanged.
You can know Christian language without possessing kingdom character.
You can be around spiritual things without becoming spiritual.
🔥 Proximity is not transformation.
Being around wheat does not make you wheat.
The question is not merely:
“What environment am I in?”
The deeper question is:
“What seed is producing my life?”
Jesus said:
“Ye shall know them by their fruits.”
— Matthew 7:16
God is not impressed by appearances that cannot survive examination.
He looks beneath the leaves.
He examines the fruit.
🌾 2. WHEAT HAS A DESTINY THAT REQUIRES MATURITY
There is something interesting about wheat:
It must mature before harvest.
This means God is not merely looking for people who started well.
He is looking for people who finished well.
“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
— Matthew 24:13
Many people celebrate beginnings.
Heaven celebrates completion.
You may have received a prophetic word.
You may have encountered God powerfully.
You may have experienced an unusual season of grace.
But the question remains:
What are you becoming after the encounter?
🌱 Seed speaks of potential.
🌾 Mature wheat speaks of manifestation.
There is a difference between carrying potential and producing fruit.
God wants to take you from:
seed → root → growth → maturity → fruit → harvest.
Do not despise the process.
The hidden season is not a wasted season.
The pressure is producing something.
The waiting is producing something.
The pruning is producing something.
The obedience nobody applauds is producing something.
🔥 3. THE TARES REVEAL THE NEED FOR DISCERNMENT
The enemy did not plant something obviously different.
He planted tares.
Something close enough to wheat to create confusion.
This is why spiritual maturity requires discernment.
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age… even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
— Hebrews 5:14
Discernment is not suspicion.
Discernment is the ability to recognize what is of God, what is not of God, and what merely looks like God.
Not everything that sounds spiritual is from God.
Not every open door is God’s door.
Not every opportunity is an assignment.
Not every voice deserves access to your spirit.
Not every relationship is meant to accompany you into your next season.
And not everything you must leave is necessarily evil.
Sometimes God separates you because your next level requires a different alignment.
🚪 4. THE THRESHOLD IS A PLACE OF DECISION
A threshold is the place between where you have been and where you are going.
It is a transition point.
And transitions often expose things that remained hidden during comfortable seasons.
At the threshold:
relationships are tested.
motives are tested.
doctrine is tested.
character is tested.
loyalty is tested.
stewardship is tested.
obedience is tested.
Why?
Because God cannot entrust a new dimension to an unchanged version of you.
“And every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”
— John 15:2
The pruning is painful because God is removing things that cannot accompany the fruitfulness He is producing.
🌿 Some things are not being removed because they are necessarily sinful.
They are being removed because they are no longer compatible with your assignment.
⚔️ 5. DIVINE DIVISION IS NOT ALWAYS PUNISHMENT
There are separations that are actually acts of mercy.
Abraham had to separate from Lot before certain dimensions of God’s promise became visible.
“And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him…”
— Genesis 13:14
Notice the timing.
After separation came clearer vision.
Sometimes you cannot see the next chapter because you are still emotionally attached to the previous one.
Sometimes clarity comes after separation.
Sometimes peace comes after separation.
Sometimes spiritual strength comes after separation.
Sometimes destiny becomes clearer after separation.
But we must be careful.
Not every person God asks you to release is a bad person.
Some people are simply assigned to another chapter.
And maturity is knowing the difference between:
rejection and divine redirection.
🌾 6. THE HARVEST WILL REVEAL WHAT THE PRESENT HIDES
Jesus said:
“Let both grow together until the harvest.”
— Matthew 13:30
There is a reason God allows the process to continue.
Time reveals nature.
You can imitate fruit for a season.
You cannot manufacture genuine fruit forever.
Eventually, the root speaks.
Eventually, character speaks.
Eventually, motives speak.
Eventually, fruit speaks.
“For every tree is known by his own fruit.”
— Luke 6:44
This should make us less obsessed with proving ourselves to people.
You do not have to constantly explain your heart.
You do not have to manipulate perception.
You do not have to force people to recognize your calling.
Keep growing.
The harvest will speak.
🔥 7. GOD IS BRINGING HIS PEOPLE TO A THRESHOLD
There are seasons when God begins to confront mixture.
Mixture in motives.
Mixture in relationships.
Mixture in priorities.
Mixture in doctrine.
Mixture in worship.
Mixture in ambition.
Mixture in identity.
The question is not simply:
“Do I love God?”
The deeper question is:
“Is there anything competing with my obedience to God?”
Elijah stood before Israel and asked:
“How long halt ye between two opinions?”
— 1 Kings 18:21
There comes a moment when indecision becomes a decision.
You cannot remain permanently between two worlds.
There is a threshold where God says:
Choose.
Choose truth over convenience.
Choose obedience over applause.
Choose holiness over compromise.
Choose purpose over distraction.
Choose Christ over the approval of men.
Choose eternal significance over temporary pleasure.
🌿 8. THE DIVINE DIVISION BEGINS WITH THE HEART
Before God separates things around you, He often begins by separating things within you.
David prayed:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts.”
— Psalm 139:23
This is a dangerous prayer—but a powerful one.
“Lord, expose what I have learned to hide.”
“Expose the motive behind my ministry.”
“Expose the insecurity behind my ambition.”
“Expose the fear behind my decisions.”
“Expose the desire for recognition.”
“Expose whatever competes with Your lordship.”
Because sometimes the greatest enemy of our destiny is not the devil.
Sometimes it is an unsubmitted part of ourselves.
🌾 9. THE THRESHOLD DEMANDS CONSECRATION
Consecration means saying:
“Lord, I belong to You.”
Not merely on Sunday.
Not merely when the blessing comes.
Not merely when the prayer is answered.
But even when obedience costs something.
Paul wrote:
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
— Romans 12:1
The mature believer eventually discovers:
God does not only want to bless my life.
He wants to govern my life.
There is a difference.
Blessing asks:
“What can God give me?”
Consecration asks:
“What can God do through me?”
🔥 10. YOUR SEPARATION IS FOR FRUITFULNESS
Jesus said:
“Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
— John 15:8
The goal of divine separation is not isolation.
It is fruitfulness.
God removes distractions so that you can become productive in purpose.
He prunes the branch so that more fruit can emerge.
He closes certain doors so you can recognize the right door.
He silences certain voices so you can hear His voice.
He changes your environment because He is changing your assignment.
And sometimes what feels like loss is actually divine preparation.
🌱 The seed disappears into the soil before the harvest appears.
The hidden season is not evidence that God has forgotten you.
It may be evidence that God is developing your roots.
🚨 THE THRESHOLD QUESTION
So here is the question that every believer must eventually answer:
If God removed everything from my life that cannot accompany me into His purpose, what would remain?
Pause there.
Think about it.
What would remain?
Would your faith remain?
Would your obedience remain?
Would your character remain?
Would your prayer life remain?
Would your love for God remain?
Would your calling remain?
Or have some of the things you call “blessings” become substitutes for the One who blessed you?
🌾 A FINAL WORD TO THE WHEAT
Beloved, do not become discouraged because the field contains tares.
Your responsibility is not to become obsessed with identifying everyone else’s tare.
Your responsibility is to become wheat.
Grow.
Pray.
Obey.
Forgive.
Study the Word.
Walk in holiness.
Love people.
Serve faithfully.
Guard your heart.
Remain humble.
Stay teachable.
And above all—
remain rooted in Christ.
“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season.”
— Psalm 1:3
Notice the language:
“His fruit in his season.”
Not somebody else’s season.
Not somebody else’s harvest.
Not somebody else’s assignment.
Your fruit.
Your season.
Your assignment.
🌱 Keep growing.
🌾 Keep standing.
🔥 Keep obeying.
Because there is a harvest coming.
And when the harvest comes, what was hidden will become visible.
What was genuine will endure.
What was counterfeit will be exposed.
What was planted in secret will bear fruit in public.
And the Lord of the harvest will have the final word.
“For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
— Psalm 1:6
🙏 PRAYER
Father, search my heart.
Separate everything in me that does not belong to You.
Give me discernment without becoming judgmental.
Give me holiness without becoming self-righteous.
Give me wisdom to recognize divine seasons.
Give me courage to leave what You have asked me to leave.
Give me grace to embrace what You have called me to become.
Let my roots go deeper.
Let my character become stronger.
Let my fruit become evident.
And when I stand at the threshold between one season and another, let me choose obedience over comfort, truth over convenience, and Your will over my own.
Make my life fruitful for Your kingdom.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen. 🌾🔥
